This is for rockstars only - Winehouse does NOT qualify. There is not a popstar in the 27 Club for a reason. My 2 cents.
The “27 Club” is a group of influential rock music artists who died at the age of 27. It most famously includes Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix.
Only time will tell if her death will become as monumental as these artists. As of now she is a member but as the media hype dies down we will truly see if she leaves enough of an impact to be immortalized with these stars. She certainly is talented enough, pop star or not. Her impact on the industry was a silent one but a powerful one that can still be felt today. She revamped the export of British artist and also the export of non-conventional female singers. Without her clearing the way, artists like Adele, Florence and the Machine, lily Allen and Ellie Goulding would have had a harder time to get noticed if they were noticed at all. Her distinct style has also influenced many in the fashion world and girls worldwide.
That being said I will have to say, that she will most likely be forgotten. Her death was after the peak of her career unlike these other artists. She was a thing of the past already and her death was honestly the best coverage she had in ages. so relax Rock purists, amy will only be in the 27 club till the next issue of People comes out.
